From FOB to EOB

You know, they say a wounded animal is the most dangerous, so I can't even imagine what it might be like to go from being an FOB/FOH (Friend of Bill/Hillary) to an EOB/EOH (Enemy of Bill/Hillary).  I understand the lists are being written - actually they are more likely being completed.  I have a feeling that the list started long before she abdicated the throne last Saturday.

Can you imagine, going from being a Hillary & Bill supporter to turning around and supporing BHO for the nomination instead?  I mean, do they have a death wish (whether political or literal)?  Do they just like being perverse?  (This I can relate to - sometimes I disagree or say things opposite of what's expected just for the reaction - I can see how that might be fun with the Clintons foaming at the mouth).  Did they get paid more to support Obama?  (oops, did I say that?).

As I began, a wounded animal can be more dangerous than normal - Bill & Hillary are certainly not dead though they are limping.  I would not want to be on their bad side after kissing up to them for nearly 20 years.

At Least They Can't Move It to the Desert

New headline is that Abu Dhabi has now bought a 75% interest in the Chrysler Building, one of New York's most beautiful and graceful landmark buildings.  Finished just shortly before the Empire State Building it had the distinction of being the highest building in the world until eclipsed shortly after by the ESB.  Though the ESB is Art Deco the Chrysler Building oozes with it, it's arching tower making it instantly recognizable both in and out of New York.

A few weeks ago it was announced that the QE2 was going to become a floating hotel in Dubai.  Now the Chrysler building is majority owned by Abu Dhabi.  At least they can't float it over the ocean and put it up on the desert sands thousands of miles away.  As long as they don't add a minaret...

Not for Months

According to BHO he has not smoked a cigarette for several months - ever since Michelle told him he should quit if he were running for President.

I've seen the pictures of him with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth.  He looks like a street thug.  Besides tobacco products, has he smoked anything else?  Green tea?  Hemp?  Cannabis?

Not that it matters to me personally.  Whether it goes in his mouth or out of his mouth - I ain't voting for him in November.

Speaking of drugs - according to new wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, old Nick Sarkozy is better than grade A level Afghan heroin.

Maybe This Will Answer the Question of Global Warming?

NASA has just made an announcement that they are going to send a probe to the sun.

Supposedly the Solar Probe is heat-resistant and will plunge deep into the sun's atmosphere.  I guess the heat-resistant part of the title is the (plus) sign).

I don't know about you, but what if the sun is actually hotter than they think and that heat-resistance doesn't quite work that well?

I'm all for it though.  I think a fact-finding mission to the sun is something they should do as soon as possible.  In fact, I have an idea.  Since Congress likes fact-finding missions, why don't we pack them all up and send them along with the probe - include Algore in it as an "observer".  

Keep Blocking Them

At least a few Republicans have grown some cajones.  Over the past couple of weeks they have effectively gotten the global warming tax and the windfall profits oil tax into a position where nothing can be done about them, at least for the moment.  Where were these guys from 2000-2006?

The global warming tax was idiotic, insane and would have done nothing to stop global warming - not that it was the intent of the Congress to do anything except rob us of more of our money.

The windfall profits tax did not work in the late 1970s under Carter so why anyone with half a brain thinks it would work in 2008 is beyond comprehension.  Besides, these guys are so half-witted they don't know the difference between profit and PROFIT MARGIN which is really what counts in business.  That's the part you actually get to "keep" - that's the part you aren't putting into development, exploration, and paying your employees.  The record profits have only added up to about a 7% profit margin for the oil companies.  If you are going to put in a windfall sales tax on oil then you better start putting it on every business that makes more than a 7% profit margin.  Retail stores frequently have a 50% profit margin.

Instead of going after big oil (by the way, these windfall profits taxes would do absolutely nothing (nada, zip, zero) to lower the gasoline prices - NOTHING!  The only thing that is going to lower gasoline prices if we start producing more and that means drilling for domestic oil.  We have got to do this because last I heard, no one has come up with a magic energy bullet that we can start using tomorrow.  We have got to get our oil until such time as new technology can efficiently power our automobiles, homes, and businesses.

DRILL, idiots, DRILL!
