Michael Ramirez is one of my favorite political cartoonists. This is a recent one that came out - and I have to say that with this election I'm feeling the same way as Uncle Sam.

Recently I feel about a millimeter better about McCain since he's now come out and said let's drill for oil on the coasts. I'd feel a lot better if he'd also change his mind about ANWR. We'll see what happens there.
I heard someone talking about McCain flip-flopping on that issue and a couple of others. I say that you can't say that about McCain - at least at this point. Now if next week McCain changes his mind again and says, no - don't drill - then I would think it would be fair to say he's flip-flopping. Flip-flopping doesn't mean you can't change your mind - it means you go back and forth on an almost daily basis - the wind blows hot and you like hot and the wind blows cold and you like the cold. This is a problem with the politicians who get accused of flip-flopping.
Changing ones mind about something is not a bad thing in and of itself as long as it's a true change of mindset and not that your sticking your wet finger in the air to see which way the wind blows. Human beings do change. If you are the same person you were five or ten years ago then I'd say you're probably dead - either literally or figuratively. Or, you let others dictate what you believe - like Algore and his "humans cause global warming" junk science that some people accept like it's the word of God (well, it is basically a new religion (read, cult), so I guess they think his word is divine). Growth is a human characteristic, so it's likely that we'll all change our opinion about something or other at some point in our lives. For John McCain I hope it really is that he sees drilling off the coast is the best thing - and not just because he wants to be elected.
I'm so tired thinking about the long hot summer ahead, listening to both McCain and Obama as they try to convince the electorate that they are the best people for the job. Just shoot me now.

John McCain was not my choice , but I will vote for him to keep AMERICA safe from MUSLIM TERRORIST !!
They say McCain's being a flop-flopper. If so, all that means is that he's returning to party (conservative) principles. I hope its true but seeing is believing.
McCain only flip-flops if he changes direction again next week - I'm with you, I'll believe it when I see it, but you're right - he's at least heading more in a more conservative direction. McCain seems to be changing his mind about off-shore drilling because he sees what a pickle we're in and that taxing us more isn't going to solve anything but make us more broke than we already are. Yeah, that will solve the high oil prices.
Flip flopping, in my opinion, is going back and forth ten times in the span of a few weeks based purely on the prevailing winds and public opinion. For instance, flip-flopping is supporting Rev Wright one week and denying you ever heard him say anything, then saying, well, I may have heard something but not that much, then saying I don't agree with anything he has said for the past week because I can't say I didn't hear it anymore. Frankly I don't think he would have made any kind of move to leave that church and distance himself if he weren't running for President. I would have been more impressed if he had done it years ago because he really DID believe the rev was wrong.
